PIPS License Plate Recognition

PIPS Technology manufactures ALPR (Automated License Plate Recognition) systems. This broad range of ALPR products provide the next generation of information technology for Travel Time Measurement, Law Enforcement, Tolling, Congestion Charging, Access Control, Traffic Monitoring and Automated Site Security Solutions.

  • Description

With over 20,000 cameras deployed around the globe and a wide range of patents covering our technology and its application, PIPS Technology is easily recognized as a leading provider of traffic related video imaging and license plate capture technology.

ALPR can be an effective tool in a variety of applications, providing accurate and timely information to its users and allowing them to make quick and well informed decisions in their respective areas.

To gain a better understanding of how ALPR is used, visit one of the following application areas:

Fixed systems can provide continuous monitoring of high traffic areas and communicate to local agencies all database hits, allowing for rapid, efficient, and appropriate deployment of resources. Mobile systems allow for patrolling of known criminal activity, and areas providing large volumes of vehicle data.

When combined with PIPS Back Office System Server (BOSS), ALPR can also be used for data mining efforts related to crime scene investigation, criminal travel patterns and hotspots and other intelligence purposes.

PIPS ALPR can be used for commercial vehicle enforcement as well. PIPS products such as the Spike+ have been integrated into weigh station applications as the primary vehicle identifier to which all data is then appended. More recently, PIPS products have been used for weigh-in-motion and radiological monitoring applications.

ALPR can either be stand-alone or integrated into access control or revenue parking systems to provide:

    • Parking Revenue Systems
    • Automated Access Control and Physical Security
    • Site Management
    • Vehicle Inventories
    • Scofflaw Enforcement

When coupled with an Under Vehicle Inspection System, video analytics, facial recognition software and an identity management system your points of entry can become the most secure aspect of your entire perimeter. Entry points have traditionally struggled with quick throughput of visitors and maintaining a strict security policy implementation. ALPR adds a degree of speed and depth of information that a manual system can’t approach. Now, you can have it both ways.

For military bases the ability to link to identify bases and other secure identification tools keeps the base safer than ever before.

Integration is the key to success as more and more standalone systems are penetrated due to the “left hand right hand” complex that allows for rapid data intake but little data integration. This powerful technology is best used as an element that contributes to Situational Awareness prevents attacks, rather than identifying perpetrators after an incident.
